
All is now set for the closing ceremony of the 15th Biennial Police Games holding in Asaba.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by President Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, top police hierarchy including the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, men and officers of various police commands and formation s, as well as contingents from seventeen police zones and Force Headquarters Abuja.
The event is expected to be spiced up with musical rendition by police band and March past by zonal contingents and Force Headquarters.
Meanwhile,the finals of the football match in the 15th Biennial Police Games(BIPOGA) tagged “Asaba 2026” Competition will be decided this Saturday at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba main bowl.
Zone 10, Sokoto and Zone 4, Makurdi will battle in the final for the gold medal .
To qualify for the final, Zone 10, Sokoto defeated Zone 2, Lagos 1- 0 in the first semifinal while Zone 4 defeated Zone 8 Lokoja to secure the ticket
In the Karate events, a total of 64 medals have been won .
Zone 5 dominated the Karate events winning barely half of the entire gold medals in the event. Zone 5 won 7gold medals 3 Silver and 2bronze medals showing absolute superiority over the rest of the Zones in the event.
In the female individua Kata, Rita Edejor from Zone 5 won the gold medal, followed by Zainab Abdusalam from Force Head Quarters who won the silver medal while Dorcas Samuel from Zone 14 took the first bronze medal and Jumai Apata from Zone 7 settled for the second bronze medal of the competition.
In male individual Kata, Edward Shinyi from Force Head Quarters secured the gold medal followed by Suleiman Shittu from Zone 11, who took the silver medal leaving the bronze medals for Samuel Tunde from Zone 5 and Emem Udoh from Zone 6.
Team Kata female gold medal was won by Zone 5 while Zone 7 took the silver and Zone 14 and 17 settled for the bronze medals. Zone 6 however, won the male team Kata, winning the gold in grand style while Zone 10 won the second position for the Silver medal while Zones 11 and 7 were good enough to book for the two bronze medals.
In Kumite 50 kg category for female, Offor Mercy from Zone 5 went home with the gold, Smart Ebi from Zone 16 took the silver while Abiuty Anieken from Zone 6 and Balogun Oluwakemi got the two bronze medals.
Meanwhile, on the medals table of the 15th Biennial Police Games, the Force Headquarters are leading with 137 medals comprising 65 gold, 42 silver and 30 bronze medals, closely followed by Zone 2 Lagos who have won 109 medals comprising 35 gold, 35 silver and 39 bronze medals while Zone 9 Umuahia have 41 medals of 22 gold,16 silver and 3 bronze medals in their kitty .
