DR. OGBUKU HARPS ON UNITY IN NIGER DELTA REGION, PLEDGES MONUMENTAL PROJECTS

Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has enjoined members of Ijaw Youth Council to be accommodative and work with people from other ethnic nationalities to facilitate development in Niger Delta communities. 

Dr. Ogbuku who gave the advice during stakeholder’s engagement with the youths at NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt Rivers State, told them that efforts were being intensified to address the infrastructural deficit within Niger Delta Region.

The Managing Director expressed happiness that the rancor within the group has been resolved and encouraged them to maintain peace within their communities to attract development. 

The Chief Executive Officer who identified ecological issues as one of the major challenges facing the region, added that NDDC was making investments that would generate huge benefits in the near future. 

The NDDC boss   stated that the commission was partnering many organizations state governments to be able to bring to reality monumental projects in the region. 

Earlier on, President Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, comrade Jonathan Lokpobiri who said that they were happy for the reappointment of Dr. Ogbu noted that the image of NDDC has improved since he became the managing director.

While calling for the release of funds and budget of NDDC to ensure speedy completion of projects in the region, Comrade Lokpobiri pledged the support of the youths to the programmes of the commission. 

The IYC President however, observed that there are many Ijaw communities suffering from project abandonment which has affected their well-being. 

He gave assurance that the members of the group are given to peace and stability within their domain.
