NDDC 1,000 BED SPACE UNIUYO HOSTEL PROJECT INSPECTION

One thousand bed space University of Uyo hostel project embarked upon by Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, will be completed next month.

The Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr. Efiong Akwa made the pledge while on inspection of the project at the University.

The project which was started about seventeen years ago, was abandoned at a point necessitating the present administration of NIGER Delta Development Commission, NDDC to take it over.
The Hostel will have one thousand bed spaces, five hundred for males and five hundred for female students.
Giving assurance of the competition of the project, the Interim Administrator, NDDC, Mr. EFIONG Akwa stated that the commission was committed to the completion of every abandoned project in the Niger Region as ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Interventionist agency, the Hostel will be fitted with state of the art facilities to provide a conduceive learning environment.

“it is going to be a unique hostel, first in the country.It is a project that will have sporting facilities, lawn tennis courts for females are male students. There will be viewing center, WI-FI provision and adequate security “
“We are committed to doing whatever has to be done within our capacity to ensure that we add value to the educational system in the Niger Delta.”
Reacting, the Vice Chancellor University of Uyo, Professor Nyaudoh, Ndaeyo, appreciated the Commission for coming to their rescue.
Professor Ndaeyo noted that when student are relaxed, academic excellence would be a guarantee.
” I am very sure, looking at the facilities on ground, we will produce many First Class and two-one, because when you have a comfortable accommodation and where to exercise, you will be a total student “
“We need to pull out our students from the surrounding villages where they currently reside and host them in a conducive environment fit for learning.”
On his part, the contractor Mr.Okere Augustine expressed confidence that the project would be completed in record time and will be delivered according to specifications.

“am sure within the three weeks time limit they gave us we will be through”
The contractor observed that there are no security challenges hindering the project.
When completed, the Hostel will alleviate accommodation issues facing the Institution.

The PROJECT inspection was preceded by a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor by the Interim Administrator of NDDC.
