NNS PATHFINDER EMBARKS ON ROUTE MARCH AS PART OF TRAINING REGIMENT

The Nigerian Navy, NNS Pathfinder Rivers State has reiterated commitment towards the eradication of oil theft in the State so as to boost National earnings. 

The Commander NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim who made this known during twenty five Kilometres Route March in Port Harcourt metropolis, noted that the road work is part of the training regiment of Nigerian Navy, to keep the officers equipped for adequate policing of Nigerian territorial integrity especially at the maritime domain.

The Route March which serves as a routine training regiment for naval officers takes place at the end of every quarter and ushers in the next quarter.

Though the distance to be covered at each quarter can change, the twenty five kilometres road work was to make the participants physically fit and mentally alert for the task ahead in the third quarter and beyond.  

Speaking to the officers during the exercise, the Commander Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim charged the officers to brace up in the quest to root out illegal refineries, oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism and other maritime crimes within Rivers State.

Commodore Ibrahim, who acknowledged the contributions of the seamen in the fight against oil theft, emphasized the need to sustain the tempo to ensure safe maritime environment for legitimate businesses to thrive. 

“One major responsibility that has been put upon us is the fight against crude oil theft.”

“There is no doubt that on our part, we have done well and that has translated to better exploration of crude in Rivers State, and this has improved national earnings.”

“We will all continue to do our best, though is not easy, but we will continue to work very hard.”

The NNS pathfinder Commander who stressed the importance of regular physical exercise, said that the route march was embarked upon by naval bases across the nation, with the aim of making participants physically fit as they carry out their constitutional mandate.

“As you continue to participate, this tedious routine will look easy; it prepares us for the task ahead.”

The Commander who appreciated the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo for the provision of logistics and platforms, assured the officers that management places premium on their welfare.

He enjoined them to always maintain a cordial civil military relationship with the civilian populace. 

The twenty five kilometres route march took off from NNS PATFINDER Base, through Iwofe, Wimpy, GRA, Ada George Road before returning to the base.
