Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has dissociated itself from a publication by a group going by the name, “the Movement for Sustainable Development of the Niger Delta,” MSDND, which seems to present the National Assembly as working against the interest of NDDC.

NDDC management denied any link with the group and the publication in a Nationwide daily, portraying the National Assembly as not supporting the progress of the Commission.

A statement from the Director Corporate Affairs, NDDC, Dr. Ibitoye Abosede frowned at theAyibatekena Olodin-led group, insisting that  NDDC has always received the support of members of the National Assembly in matters relating to the development of the Niger Delta region.

“The NDDC Management states unequivocally that it has nothing whatsoever to do with this group and dissociates itself from the views expressed in the publication.”

“Contrary to the uninformed position canvassed by the Ayibatekena Olodin-led group, the NDDC had always received the support of members of the National Assembly in matters relating to the development of the Niger Delta region.”

According to Dr. Abosede, the interventionist agency has enjoyed the support  of both the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi and the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on NDDC, Mr.  Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who have facilitated passage of NDDC budget.

“We hereby sound a note of warning to all detractors to stop stoking the embers of distrust between the National Assembly and the NDDC.” “The Commission has been enjoying a good working relationship with the lawmakers and we intend to maintain these positive engagements in the interest of the people of the Niger Delta region.”

“The NDDC Management holds the distinguished and honourable members of the National Assembly in the highest esteem. ”

The Director warned perpetrators of the falsehood to stop pitching the Commission against the lawmakers who have supported the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Interim Administrator NDDC, Dr. Effiong Akwa in their bid to enhance development of Niger Delta Region.
