NSCDC COMMANDANT GENERAL CHARGES PERSONNEL TO INCRESE TEMPO IN THE FIGHT AGAINST OIL THEFT IN NIGER DELTA REGION

Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Dr. Abubakar Audi has charged officers of the Corps to increase the tempo of the fight against oil theft, pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering in Niger Delta region. 

Dr. Audi who gave the charge during a working visit to Rivers State Command, told newsmen that intelligence and technology are being leveraged on to fish out vandals in their hideouts.

The visit by Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Dr.  Abubakar Audi to Rivers State Command served as a morale boost to the officers who lost four of their colleagues recently in the creek, fighting vandals. 

Dr. Audi, who commended the personnel for their efforts, encouraged them not to relent in the effort to subdue oil thieves sabotaging the economy. 

Commandant General who acknowledged that the command has been  upbeat in the protection of critical National assets, judging by the number of arrests and seizure, warned operators of illegal refineries that their days were numbered. 

He consoled the command and family of the deceased personnel, assuring that their benefits would be processed hitch free as directed by the Minister of Interior 

The NSCDC boss, who emphasized on the importance of training, explained that new courses were being added in the training regiment to reposition the corps in consonance with international standards. 

Responding on the issues of welfare and emoluments, the CG insisted that welfare of officers was in the front burner. 

Dr. Audi who assured personnel, who have been stagnated in rank that their promotions were imminent, added that disparity in salaries would be corrected.

While maintaining the Corp’s zero tolerance to corruption, the Commandant General reminded the officers that any of them identified to compromise the war against oil theft would be sanctioned accordingly. 

He Urged new entrants to be fit, loyal and committed to their assignments to guarantee a successful professional career.

What would be considered as the most heartwarming part of the visit by the CG was a pledge to volunteer parade band members that have been with the corps for some years that they would be absorbed as full staff.
