CALL TO END STIMATIZATION ON CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS GAIN ADVOCACY

People have been called upon to give Children with Down syndrome the love and rights as humans.

This was the opinion of the General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, OPM, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere and some teachers of children with special need, in commemoration of Down syndrome Day with the Children with special needs of the OPM Free Autistic School.

Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere while calling for concerted efforts from the government and other public spirited persons in taking care of Children with Special needs, pointed that ending stigmatization against Children with special needs will help in the development of such Children.

Commenting on the theme of this year’s Down Syndrome Day observance, the Welfare Director of OPM, Dr. Maureen Chukwu, the Head Teacher of the OPM Free Autistic School, Mr. Iddo Francis, and the Physiotherapist, Dr. Anyama Ernest, said all hands should be on deck, to give Children with Special needs the needed support as a matter of their fundamental right to grow and be useful in the Society.

Two of the Students in the OPM Free Autistic School, who spoke to Radio Nigeria, expressed delight at the care given to them by the Church.

The General Overseer of OPM also bought bicycles of different sizes for the Children with special needs, as he treated them to a sumptuous meal, to mark their Day.
