NDDC CEO, EFIONG AKWA PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO NSIMA EKERE

The need to live a life of legacy has been emphasized. 

The Interim Administrator Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr. Efiong Akwa made the emphasis while on Condolence visit to the Family of former Managing Director of the Commission, Mr. Nsima Ekere over the death of his father at Edemaya, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

The visit to Edemeya in Ikot Abasi Local government of Akwa Ibom State was to console the Family of former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr. Nsima Ekere over the demise of their Father, Obong Gabriel Ekere Who died at the age of ninety years.

 

AKWA SIGNING CONDOLENCE REGISTER

Speaking during the visit, the Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC Mr. Efiong Akwa, who described the deceased as an educationist noted that he made useful contributions both in Ikot Abasi and Akwa Ibom State as a whole.

 Obong Gabriel Sampson Ekere left a great legacy and I must say that Akwa Ibom and Nigeria lost a great man. He has left behind capable children such as the former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State and MD of NDDC.”

Mr. Akwa encouraged the Family to take solace in God, knowing that their father lived a good Christian life. 

“They should keep the family bond together,”

The Chief Executive Officer of NDDC promised that the commission would construct a Primary school in the area in Memory of the deceased.

“We can intervene in the school in memory of the diseased, who was a lover of education and a headmaster of a school.”

While receiving the guests, the Former NDDC Managing Director, Mr. Nsima Ekere who felt honoured by the visit, however requested that the commission assists the community to construct a bridge to link different clans in the locality. 

Mr. Okere who commended the present administration of the Interventionist agency for the completion of the new NDDC headquarters explained that he made efforts to put the project in the right track when he was the Managing Director.

“I am happy to be associated with NDDC and I congratulate the Interim Administrator for the successful completion of the Commission’s new headquarters.”

Similarly, the Eldest son of the family, Professor Aniekan Ekere expressed delight over the visit. 

Professor Ekere told the guests that their father’s death came to them as a shock though they were thankful to God for granting him longevity. 

“Our father lived a courageous, graceful and impactful life with a distinguished career that spanned over five decades as a revered school teacher, sports administrator, public servant and community leader.”

The Professor of Medicine acknowledged that their father sacrificed to ensure that the family did not lack. 

High point of the event was presentation of items by the Interim administrator of NDDC to the family in support of the: forthcoming burial.
