NDDC LIGHTS UP RURAL COMMUNITIES TO CURB CRIMINALITY

The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says ongoing light-Up Niger Delta Communities Exercise, embarked upon by the commission is aimed at reducing criminality in the rural areas. 

Dr. Ogbuku who made this known in an interview at NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt Rivers State, noted that criminal activities thrive in darkness, but when the environment is properly illuminated, perpetrators of evil acts are put on check. 

While explaining that the exercise entails installation of solar powered streetlight in the rural communities, the MD attributed the derive to needs assessment of what the residents desire. 

On the progress recorded by the interventionist agency in twenty twenty three, the Chief Executive Officer of NDDC stated that some projects have already been completed such as Aquaculture center in Umuahia, power transmission station in Ondo State, regional link road in Oruma community Bayelsa State among others. 

According to the Managing Director, most of the completed projects would be inaugurated from the first quarter of twenty  twenty-four.

The Managing Director who said that President Bola Tinubu is concerned about under development in Niger Delta, expressed readiness of management to carry out the directive of the president to ensure rapid development of Niger Delta region.
