NDDC TO REPAIR PORTION OF AKINIMA JOINKARAMA ROAD DAMAGED BY EROSION

The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has pledged urgent intervention on a section of Akinima Joinkarama road damaged by erosion in Ahoada West Local Government Area, Rivers State. 

Dr. Ogbuku who made the pledge while on inspection of the road linking some communities in the area expressed sadness over the situation and stressed the need for immediate action to make the road motorable. 

According to the Managing Director, having been informed of the deplorable state of the road, there was need to have on the spot assessment of the road alongside engineers to proffer solution to the challenge. 

He assured the people that NDDC would step in and restore the road to usable status to enhance both economic and social activities within the loyalty. 

Explaining their plight, two residents, Mr. Akpo Alfred and Emeka Godwin said that the communities have suffered untold hardship for the past two years because of the road and hoodlums have taken advantage of the damage to rub the people. 

The respondents noted with regret that they have been calling on the government to come to their rescue but have not received any response.
