NDDC MD SAYS WARRI–OMADINO-ESCRAVOS ROAD WOULD BOOST THE ECONOMY OF DELTA STATE

The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says Warri-Omadino-Escravos Road when completed would salvage the economy of Warri and Delta State.
Dr. Ogbuku who made this known while speaking to a delegation from Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality at NDDC Headquarters in Port Harcourt Rivers State, said the project would be done in partnership with the International Oil company operating in the locality.
While acknowledging that Niger Delta communities have similar ecological and environmental challenges, the MD gave assurance that uncompleted projects would receive urgent attention.
Dr. Ogbuku assured that NDDC believes in equal distribution, equity, justice and fairness.
The Chief Executive Officer told the delegation that after the inauguration of the board, there would be NIGER DELTA SUMMIT to redefine the master plan of the commission and have a new direction for the agency.
The MD who advised them to be good ambassadors of the commission, maintained that the interventionist agency has executed projects in various communities in the region.
He asked the people to have the liberty to reach out to management whenever there are issues.
Earlier in an address signed by the leader of the delegation, the Ologbotsere of Warri, Chief Ayiri Emami but read by Secretary Itsekiri leaders of thought, Sir Sunny Meme, the Ologbotsere noted that the Managing Director runs open door administration and pleaded to support NDDC programmes.
The monarch however observed that the abandonment of projects in the area has affected well-being of the residents and requested that efforts be made to complete them.
In a remark, the Prince of Warri Kingdom, Dr. Yemi Emiko who said that the oil companies have been skeptical about transparency in the commission, noted that the narrative is being changed as the agency was beginning to gain the trust of partners.
He acknowledged that some of the statutory contributors have not been consistent in their contributions.
