CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF APPRECIATES FRONTLINE TROOPS IN A LUNCHEON

Governor of Rivers State, Sir, Siminalayi Fubara has enjoined Nigerian Army to be more ruthless in the bid to end illegal bunkering and other sundry crimes in the Niger Delta region.

Governor Fubara who came up with this at 6 Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt Rivers State, during Chief of Army Staff Christmas Luncheon with Frontline Troops, pledged that the state will continue to support Nigerian Army.

 

In what appeared as a reverse of the usual order in the military, where junior soldiers are expected to serve the senior officers, the Chief of Army Staff Christmas luncheon provided the frontline troops the rare privilege of being served food by senior military Officers and other dignitaries in appreciation for their work in the field. 

Addressing the troops, Governor of Rivers State, Siminilayi Fubara acknowledged the risks taken by soldiers to secure the nation’s territorial integrity.

Represented by Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Ordu, the Governor emphasized the importance of service to humanity.

Similarly, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Toareed Lagbaja represented by Commander, Training and Doctrine Command, Nigerian Army, Major General Kevin Aligbe congratulated the soldiers and tasked them to be motivated to do more in the coming year. 

The Chief of Army Staff who commended the soldiers for their gallant successes, said that Nigerian Army will take delivery of aircrafts that would aid security operations next year. 

He admitted that there are challenges, but the Army is ready to provide enabling environment to boost economic development. 

On his part, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, Major General Jamal Abdussalam explained that the luncheon was to appreciate troops for their efforts in maintaining peace in the country and protection of critical National assets and oil installations.  

Major General Abdussalam charged them to continue their quest to subdue criminality in Niger Delta region. 

Frontline Soldiers being served

The GOC who is also the Land component Commander South South cooperation Delta Safe, regretted that some soldiers paid the Supreme price in line of duty within Niger Delta region but urged troops not to be discouraged by the incident, rather to be spurred to increase the tempo of the fight against oil theft. 

Present at the occasion were senior military officers from the Armed Forces as well as heads of other security agencies in Rivers State.
