NDDC INAUGURATES INTERNAL ROADS IN OKANSU COMMUNITY, RIVERS STATE

Succor has come the way of Okansu Community in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area Rivers State, with the construction of internal roads and bridges in the area by Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC. 

The community which has remained inaccessible for over twenty years got relief of the burden via the intervention by the commission.

Inaugurating the projects, the Interim Administrator, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Efiong Akwa told the residents that the commission has a mandate to put smiles on the faces of the people of Niger Delta Region through delivery of laudable projects. 

Dr. Akwa who revealed that the internal roads included three point six kilometres with two bridges, two kilometres, one point eight kilometres and Solar powered street light, promised that a primary school would be built for them. 

The NDDC CEO who was impressed with the attitude of the community during the duration of the project, enjoined them to appreciate President Muhmamadu Buhari and the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Umana Umana for bringing the project to aid development of the locality.

“When the community men appealed to NDDC, I was told that this road, people could not pass for many years; so many of your people could not drive cars to this place.”

“So, now we can drive our cars down, when you harvest your farm produce, you can take them to the market.”

“This is a good community, may God bless this community, may God bless NDDC, may God bless the contractor.”

“I want to thank the youths of this community; this is one of the best communities we have visited.”

“I was told that throughout their work here, you did not disturb the workers, no person was kidnapped.”

 Reacting to the development, the Community Development Committee, CDC Chairman of Okansu, Mr. Clement Eke described the gesture from NDDC as unprecedented while the contractor, Mr. Christian Onyeze said he was determined to deliver the projects according to specifications within the time frame.

The respondents appreciated NDDC for coming to their rescue adding that the projects would boost economic activities in the community and promote social activities between them  and neighbouring communities.
