COMMUNITIES IN AKWA IBOM STATE ATTRIBUTE RAPID DEVELOPMENT IN THE AREAS TO NDDC PROJECTS

Development in Suburb communities in Akwa Ibom State has been attributed to road projects done by Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC in the Areas. 

Beneficiaries of the projects including an Elder in Ifa Ikoro Okpa Community, Elder Godwin Essien admitted that the roads constructed by the agency have facilitated mobility and transportation of goods and services to the urban city. 

In continuation of the inspection of projects done by Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC in Niger Delta region, which the Acting Managing Director, Dr. Emmanuel Audu – Ohwavborua has embarked upon, to showcase the achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, it was established in Akwa Ibom State, that roads constructed by the commission opened up many communities for economic and social activities. 

Some of the projects inspected were construction of failed and unmotorable sections of Idim Ikuk and Environs in Ifa Ikorokpa community, repair of Internal peripheral roads in Mopol Baracks, Idoro, Construction of Mbiabong-Ikot Offiong Road, ikono, reconstruction of internal roads in Amamong communities among others. 

 The construction of one point six kilometres road in Idim Street Ifa Ikorokpa community was said to be one of the pointers to the rapid development witnessed in the area according to an indigene, elder Godwin Essien. 

Also, while appreciating NDDC for the projects, another resident, Mr. Kufre Etim admitted that the road was in a very bad condition before the construction. 

In the same vein, in Asantom Community, Ibi Ono Local government Area of the State, Mr. Joseph Akpan said that one point four kilometres road NDDC gave the community has been helpful in erosion control and transportation of agricultural produce to urban city. 

In Amamong Lot two, Okobo Local Government Area, Mr. Matthew Efiong and Mary Sunday who described the construction of internal roads in the locality as a boost to social activities and economic growth, however solicited with Niger Delta Development Commission to carry out more projects in the community. 

Other landmark projects NDDC executed in Akwa Ibom State were the Construction of internal roads in Mopol Barracks Idoro Road Uyo, with the aim to achieve a conducive working environment for Police officers in the barracks. 

 It is heartwarming also to mention the building of a Prototype one thousand and fifty bed space hostel in University of Uyo, with recreational facilities, to solve accommodation challenge and ensure academic excel
