NDDC COMMISERATES WITH ARMY OVER MURDER OF OFFICERS IN OKUAMA COMMUNITY

Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku  has emphasized the importance of peace as a catalyst to the development of Niger Delta Region.

Dr. Ogbuku who made the emphasis during a courtesy cum condolence visit to the headquarters of Six Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt, expressed displeasure over the gruesome murder of Army officers in Okuama community, Ugheli South Local Government Area, Delta State. 

 The Managing Director who   acknowledged the contributions of Nigerian military in maintaining peace in the Niger Delta region described the act as barbaric and not in consonance with the character of people of the region.

 While assuring that Army Jetty project in Delta State and Power project at Sixteen Brigade in Bayelsa State would be completed, the MD pleaded with Army to be professional as they fish out the perpetrators to reduce casualty. 

He called on the communities to support the military as they strive to ensure peace and security in the region. 

Responding, the General Officer Commanding, GOC, Six Division Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam said it was regrettable that officers were killed while on national assignment.

Major General Abdussalam who   insisted that the community was complicit in the act, added   that the military would not be cawed by propaganda in the effort to locate and deal decisively with the perpetrators.

The GOC who said that operations were on-going to recover weapons catered away by the hoodlums, however pleaded with the commission to complete Army Jetty in Delta State.

Major General Abdussalalm who is also the land component Commander, South-South, Operation Delta Safe, appreciated NDDC for carrying out projects within Army formations in Six Division Area of Responsibility.

The Managing Director was accompanied on the visit by Executive Directors and Other management staff.
