NNS PATHFINDER EMBARKS ON ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION IN RUMUOLUMENI COMMUNITY

Residents of Rumuolumeni in Obio/Akpo Local Government Area, Rivers State have been urged to imbibe environmental sanitation culture to guarantee a healthy environment. 

The Commander Nigerian Navy ship NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim who gave the advice during environmental sanitation exercise in the community reminded the people that dirty environment enhances spread of diseases.

Commodore Ibrahim noted that the exercise is in line with the mandate of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral AZ Gambo for Naval formations to embark on Corporate Social responsibilities to strengthen  Civil Military relationship. 

The NNS Pathfinder Commander while acknowledging the efforts made by Navy hierarchy and the community to get the Governor to construct internal roads in the area emphasized the need to keep the roads and environment clean to justify the gesture by the state government.

While describing the turn out by the community as encouraging, he gave assurance that the exercise will not be a one off activity. 

Commodore Ibrahim stated that before the date for the sanitation was fixed, there was agreement with the leadership of the community and the information was disseminated for everyone to be on the same page.

Reacting to the development, the Community Development Committee Chairman of Rumuolumeni, Mr. Williams Ikechi, who described the exercise as unprecedented by the naval base, appreciated the commander for mobilizing his men to carry out the assignment.

 The CDC chairman who described the Navy as a blessing to the host Community, promised that the people will always collaborate with the navy and ensure enabling environment for their operations. 

Community participation

Naval officers led by the  Commander NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Suleiman Ibrahim swept the roads, desilted the gutters and mobilized the residents to cue in.
