NDDC LAUNCHES INTERNSHIP SCHEME TO TRAIN TEN THOUSAND YOUTHS

Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC Youth Internship Scheme has been launched, with the aim of training ten thousand youths in various skills.
Launching the scheme in Port Harcourt Rivers State, Chairman Board of NDDC, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, said that the scheme would run for one year and the beneficiaries would be paid fifty thousand naira as stipends monthly.
According to the chairman, the age limit would be forty five years while application would be strictly online.
Similarly, The Managing Director NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who said that the youth internship scheme was part of NDDC budget for the year, explained that the scheme delves into technology, automobile, maritime, Arts among others.
The Managing Director who expressed displeasure over environmental challenges affecting the region however applauded the youths for making the region remain peaceful despite nationwide protest.
The MD who stated that the selection would be by merit and equality of states, enjoined beneficiaries to be of good conduct.
He appreciated the president for support and his determination to develop the region.
On his part, Executive Director Projects, EDP, Sir Victor Antai who told the people that the scheme was launched to tackle unemployment, said youth unemployment in the region stood at forty two percent.
Sir Antai noted that education and skills were key factors that drive development.
