DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT PLEDGES TO COLLABORATE WITH NDDC IN DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged readiness of the state government to partner Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC to take development to communities in Delta State.
Governor Oborevwori who made the commitment in government House Asaba, during a courtesy call by the Management of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, acknowledged the progress made by the present management of the commission in the development of Niger Delta region.
While advising the commission to do more in Project monitoring, the Governor stated that partnership with State government would eliminate duplication and abandonment of projects .
Speaking earlier on, Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku who told the governor that the management was on courtesy visit to inform him of the planned partnership with Chevron to construct Warri-Omadino Escravos Road explained that the commission has made significant progress in a bid to open up the region for investment through public private partnership, PPP.
DR. Ogbuku, who was emphatic on the gains of partnership stated that the commission inaugurated some regional projects recently including Ogbia -Nembe Road with seven bridges done in collaboration with SPDC, Ibeno Bridge, Obehie Okikpe Road, one thirty two cum thirty-three injection power station in Ondo State among other. On East West Road, the Chief Executive Officer of the Interventionist agency who told the people that NDDC has intervened many times to make the road motorable, expressed happiness that the recent remedial work carried out by NDDC has alleviated the suffering motorists who were spending days know the road due to its deplorable state.
Speaking about the youths, the MD stated that the commission has robust programmes for youths empowerment including the recently launched NDDC Youth Internship Scheme, meant to train ten thousand youths in various skills and holistic Opportunities programme and Engagement, project HOPE.
High point of the visit was presentation of the design of Warri – Omadino Escravos Road to the Governor.
