MD NDDC REASSURES ON ADDRESSING  CONCERNS OF COMMUNITIES IN NIGER DELTA REGION

The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says the present leadership is ready to listen to the concerns of the people hence, the constant  stakeholders engagement with different groups in the region.  

DR. Ogbuku  who made this known during an interactive with ONELGA stakeholders delegation at NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt Rivers State, asked communities to take advantage of NDDC representatives of their states to make their interests known. 

The Managing Director told the delegation that NDDC has a robust plan on sustainable agricultural programme in ONELGA area through youth empowerment initiative christened  project HOPE.

He emphasized on  human capital development  by training the people  on various skills  that would make them self reliant. 

The MD told the delegation that the commission has many projects in view for ONELGA including, canalisation, bridges, internal roads and  internally displaced persons camp, in addition to ongoing light up Niger Delta project. 

While  acknowledging that  communities in the region face the challenge of ecology and under development the MD  gave assurance that the present administration believed in  capacity and productivity against nepotism  and ethnicity.

Earlier, Leader of ONELGA stakeholders delegation, Dr. Christian Ojeba who read the an address from the group, acknowledged the progress made by the present management of NDDC saying that the light up Niger Delta has brought about security improvement in the communities. 

Dr. Ojeba who noted that ONELGA  has been contributory to oil production in the country. requested that NDDC site more projects in the locality. 

The group expressed readiness to have regular engagement with the commission. 

According him, the delegation has the backing of Eze ogba of Ogba Land, His Royal Majesty, Dr Nwachukwu Obi.

On his part, the representative of Rivers State on the board of NDDC, Tony Okocha while commending the people for their peaceful disposition maintained that efforts would be made to alleviate their challenges.
