Corps members have been urged to be good ambassadors in their places of primary assignment as well as integrate with the people.

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State , Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas retired, stated this at the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise for 2025 Batch B Stream One Corps Members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, in Tai Local Government Area.

Addressing a total of 1902 Corps Members who successfully completed the orientation exercise at the Rivers Camp, the State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibas represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Prof. Ibibia Worika enjoined the Corps Members to see Rivers State as “their home” and serve “selflessly.

He urged them to be a source of joy to the people and to leave enduring legacies in their host communities.

In his address, the State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe commended the Rivers State Government for the “acquisition of 1000 brand new mattresses for Corps Members use on camp and commitment to upgrade the camp infrastructure soon.

He lamented the impact of rain on the overall activities of the camping exercise, especially the flooding of the camp market, which he described as a “menace” and appealed to the State Government to urgently intervene to provide solution to the problem.

Oleghe advised the Corps Members to accept their postings in good faith and use the Service Year to “develop soft and hard skills, leadership communication, problem solving and specific technical skills that will stand them out amongst their peers.”

Two of the corps members, Joshua Ezenkwoha and Makay Mitchell described the camp experience as tough but fun and promised total commitment to their places of primary assignment.

The Corps members appealed for corporation from their employers and host communities.
