
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Friday 1st August, 2025, delivered relief materials approved for distribution to persons affected by flood in Bille Community in Rivers State.
The items were delivered through the Agency’s Port Harcourt Operations Office, under the leadership of the South-South Zonal Director, Dr. Godwin Tepikor, in collaboration with the Rivers State Emergency Management Agency (RSEMA), represented by Director Engr. Ogbanga Tamunosiki, officially handed over and flagged off distribution of the materials to persons and communities affected by the recent flood disasters in Bille.

The relief team was symbolically received on behalf the beneficiaries by the Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial District, Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo.
In her remarks, the Senator expressed deep appreciation for NEMA’s swift intervention and commended the Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, for responding promptly to the plight of the Bille people. She further appealed to the Federal Government for lasting flood mitigation and protection measures in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the Director General, Dr. Tepikor conveyed her heartfelt sympathy to the affected communities and urged beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items provided to ease their hardship.
Representatives of the affected communities, Chief Luckyman Egila and Barr. Nelly Johnbull (representing the Women’s Forum), expressed gratitude to NEMA for the timely and impactful intervention, which they said brought great relief to their people.

The relief items distributed were food and non-food materials including bags of parboiled rice, bags of garri, cartons of seasoning cubes, cartons of vegetable oil, cartons of tomato paste and bags of iodized salt.
