Four hundred classroom teachers and leaders from public schools in Bayelsa State are participating in a five day capacity building programme to strengthen their capacity on English proficiency, school leadership and digital education.

The training is a partnership between the Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund, the State Teachers Training Registration and Certification Board and the British Council (TTRCB).

The training brings to one thousand the number of teachers and managers that have benefitted from the training scheme in Bayelsa State.

Declaring the ceremony open, the Commissioner for Education. Dr. Gentle Emelah while appreciating teachers in the State for imparting knowledge to students, expressed the hope that the training programme would equip them with necessary skills to improve the quality of education in Bayelsa State.

Executive Secretary of the State Education Development Trust Fund, Professor Ebimieowei Etebu and the Chairman of the EDTF Board, High Chief Fidelis Agbiki said the partnership with the British Council has witnessed the training of a total of one thousand teachers, fifty education managers and sixty trainers in Bayelsa.

Team Lead of the British Council, Mr. Fwanshishak Daniel who is the Head of English and Schools and the Acting Chairman of the TTRCB, Dr. Stella Peremoboere Ugolo commended the Bayelsa State government and the EDTF for the partnership to improve the quality of human capacity in the education sector.

Chairman, Sub Committee on Development Partners on the EDTF Board, Dr. Alice Atuwo thanked the British Council, the TTRCB, facilitators and resource persons for the training programme for teachers and education managers in the State.
