
The Akwa Ibom State Government has encoraged members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Scheme to renew their faith in the country and remain patriotic.
Governor Umo Eno stated that his administration recognised the essence of their roles as youths and corps members and promised to ensure the security and welfare of the corps members in the course of the service to their fatherland.
Speaking through the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Nicholas Effiong, during the closing ceremony of 2025 Batch A, Stream 2 orientation course of the scheme in Nsit Atai, Governor Eno assured the corps members that his administration would provide a safe environment for them to serve and thrive.
“We are desirous of working with you in the delivery of good governance and services to the people of the state,” he said.
He said: “The State government remains committed to providing the necessary support to ensure that your service year is productive and rewarding. We understand the challenges you may face, and I assure you that we are working tirelessly to create an environment where you can thrive and make a positive impact.”

The Governor urged them to face the future with confidence, despite the challenges assailing the country, charging the corps members to contribute meaningfully to the social-economic development of the state and the country.
He said: “The training you received from the orientation course should have a significant impact in your lives during and after national service.
“Wherever you are posted, use it as an opportunity to contribute to societal development, keep in mind where you come from and be dedicated to your service to the nation.”
Governor Eno encouraged them not to reject their posting while mandating government agencies and other corps employers to provide an enabling environment for them to work peacefully.
He said: “As you go into these communities, decide to be worthy ambassadors of the NYSC and be determined to write your names in gold in the hearts of the people.
“Be role models and good mentors to our children and youths in various communities.”
Governor Umo Eno charge them to leverage on the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, SAED, programme of the NYSC, to be employers of labour and providing solutions to Nigeria’s unemployment problem.
He said: “The skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme of the scheme is the right way to go, it has the solution to the country’s unemployment problem.
“Through it, we can train our people and make them believe in themselves, this is because there is dignity in labour.”
While congratulating the corps members for not only answering the clarion call but equally showcasing themselves as those to whom the destiny of the nation is entrusted, he encouraged the patriotic Corps Members, notwithstanding their comprehensive mental and physical readiness to launch themselves into the host communities, also to observe the areas of focus of his administration and systematically integrate themselves.
Finally, he appreciated the team spirit of the camp officials, which culminated in the huge success recorded. Also thanking the Corps Members for their positive note throughout the course, thereby declaring the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 orientation course closed.
