In celebration of the 38th anniversary of State creation, 38 new born babies in three hospitals in the state were blessed with cash and gift  items by the Akwa Ibom First Lady Designate, Lady Helen Eno Obareki.

At the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo, Lady Obareki who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Inibehe Silas Etukudo, thanked God for the safe arrivals of the babies, saying their deliveries on the anniversary day have brought blessings upon their respective families and the state at large.

‎Lady Obareki prayed that God would bless and keep the babies and their mothers in perfect health condition, adding that the administration of Governor Umo Eno means well for every Akwa Ibom child.

‎One of the mothers who was delivered of a set of quadruplet (3 girls and a boy) after 20 years of marriage,  happily christened their first baby after Lady Obareki.

The next port of call was St. Luke’s Hospital, Anua, where the delegation from the Office of the First Lady were received by the Matron in charge of the labour ward, Nurse  Maria Okon, the team distributed cash and gift items to scores of nursing mothers who could not hide their joy and appreciation.‎‎

At Immanuel General Hospital Eket, the First Lady Designate,  represented by the wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Inemesit Uwah, splashed gifts and cash on the babies and  conveyed her message of love to the nursing mothers.‎‎

She thanked the medical personnel for their caregiving attributes and prayed  God to reward their labour of love.‎‎In each of the hospitals visited, the Matrons took turns to offer their words of appreciation to the Governor and the First Lady Designate for their compassionate disposition towards their patients, and prayed God to bless them with more wisdom to pilot the affairs of the State.‎
