Akwa Ibom State has taken a decisive step toward strengthening fiscal discipline and improving revenue accountability with the inaugural meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA–IGR).

The meeting, held at the Revenue House of the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service (AKIRS) in Uyo, followed the recent inauguration of the committee by Governor Umo Eno,
Chairman of the committee, DMr Emem Bob, who presided over the session, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in the members, describing the assignment as a critical service to the people of the state.

According to him, the meeting provided an opportunity for members to review the implementation roadmap for the full rollout of the Treasury Single Account and the seamless deployment of the AkwaRemit platform across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

He said deliberations centered on effective coordination, accountability, and the establishment of robust systems capable of strengthening revenue management, blocking financial leakages, and promoting transparency in government finances.

The chairman reaffirmed the committee’s collective commitment to diligently execute the reform in line with the ARISE Agenda blueprint of the Eno administration, stressing that strict adherence to due process would remain non-negotiable.

“With unity of purpose and discipline in implementation, we are confident that the Treasury Single Account will enhance fiscal responsibility and translate into improved service delivery for the people of Akwa Ibom State,” he said.

The TSA–IGR initiative is expected to consolidate government revenues, boost public confidence in financial management, and deepen accountability across the public sector.
