As part of strategic efforts to tackle poverty and promote inclusive development, the Akwa Ibom State Government has intensified preparations for the rollout of the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer Initiative, under the Federal Government’s National Social Investment Programme NSIP.

The initiative, in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, will see vulnerable and low-income households in Akwa Ibom receiving ₦75,000 each to cushion the economic burden and reinforce social protection systems across the state.

A high-level stakeholders’ engagement in Uyo, convened by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, chaired by the Commissioner, Princess Emem Ibanga, focused on finalizing a pre-disbursement work plan to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the implementation process.

Describing the session as “productive and insightful,” Princess Ibanga said the interactive platform enabled participants to identify potential challenges and formulate practical solutions for a seamless rollout.

“The synergy between the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope framework is central to our approach,” she emphasized. “We are committed to making this initiative a model for effective social investment delivery.”

Among key participants were Mrs. Eno Akpan, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs; Mr. Christopher Udoh, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget & Economic Planning; and Mr. Uduak Isaac, Permanent Secretary, Human Capital Development, Office of the Governor.

Also in attendance were Dr. Godwin Akpan, NSIP Focal Person; Mr. Mkpoutom Mkpoutom, State Director of the National Orientation Agency; Mr. Alex Inyangudo, State Operating Coordinating Unit (SOCU); and heads of security agencies, program coordinators, and desk officers.

The engagement represents a critical milestone in the implementation roadmap, aimed at fostering strategic collaboration, ensuring accountability, and maximizing the program’s impact on the lives of Akwa Ibom residents.

The Renewed Hope Cash Transfer Initiative is one of several components of the NSIP designed to provide direct support to the most economically vulnerable Nigerians, in line with national goals to reduce poverty and BB drive inclusive growth.
