‎The  management of Ibom Resort and Hotels Limited have been mandated by the Akwa Ibom State house of Assembly to reinstate Norah Edet Ukoh whose employment was Wrongfully Terminated .

‎The  House of Assembly gave the directive following the adoption of the report of Joint House Committees on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions and Special Projects, Monitoring, and Implementation presented By  it’s Chairman Mr  Uwem Imo-Ita.



‎Mr Imo-Ita stated that the termination of Norah Ukoh’s services was considered unfair due to a lack of due process, adding that the committees found that Norah Ukoh, who was victimized, was on the approved leave when the disciplinary panel convened, and she was not given the opportunity to appear before it.

‎The Chairman stated that this unfair process violates the principles of fair hearing and natural justice.

‎The house however directed the Committee on Culture and Tourism to urgently conduct an oversight review to determine whether the recommendations of the Joint Committees have been implemented and also ensure that  Norah Edet Ukoh  receives adequate financial compensation for her wrongful termination.

‎The house also urged the Committee  to investigate the lapses in the hotel’s administration that were uncovered during the investigation.

‎A bill for a law to establish the Akwa Ibom State Lotteries and Gaming Agency, sponsored by Mr Otobong Bob, passed  first reading and was referred to the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics, and Privileges .



‎Meanwhile,Akwa Ibom State house of Assembly has passed a resolution mandating the ministry of transport and local government and chieftaincy affairs to enforce parking regulation and restrictions to prevent  trucks from parking on  roadside and in hazardous locations across the state.

‎The house also directed the agencies to  provide designated paid parking lots/garages along major road corridors for  heavy duty trucks to guide against their parking on major roads and intersections.

‎The decisions of the house followed a motion on URGENT NEED TO STOP INDISCRIMATE PARKING OF HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS/TRAILERS,TANKERS ALONG THE MAJOR ROAD
‎CORRIDORS OF AKWA IBOM STATE sponsored by Member representing Nsit Ubium state constituency, Mr Otobong Bob.

‎Mr Bob who is also the Leader of the house drew the attention of the house to heavy duty trucks trailers and tankers parked along Calabar – Itu Road ,Itam Junction. Idoro Road, Ikor Oku, Ikono Junction , Etinan-Awa Road Corridor as well as Calabar-Itu-Oko Ita Ikot Ekpene Road Corridor and major roads in Uyo metropolis.

‎The Nsit Ubium lawmaker noted that the development if not checked will pose danger to
‎other road users and capable of causing accidents and deaths.

‎In response, the speaker of the house, Elder Udeme Otong directed the clerk of the house, Mrs Nsikakabasi Orok to communicate the resolution of the house to the ministry of transport and Ministry of local government and Chieftaincy affairs for necessary action.

‎The house also received motion on the need to restate the legislative limits of local government councils and to caution against ultra vires enectment.
