The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly has urged the management of Akwa Ibom State polytechnic, Ikot Osurua to prioritise the environmental cleanliness of the institution.

‎The Chairman House Committee on Education and member representing Oron/ Udung Uko state Constituency, Mrs Kenim Onofiok gave the remarks after the tour of the institution during oversight function by the committee.

‎The Chairman Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly committee on Education, Mrs Kenim Onofiok noted that as part of the mandate of the committee is to make sure that the operation of the education sector is in line with the government ARISE AGENDA.

‎The lawmaker while appreciating tetfund  trust fund and Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno for their contribution towards the growth of the polytechnic, frowned at the environment over grown with weeds.

‎On ground to receive the lawmakers was the Rector and management staff of the Akwa Ibom State polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.

‎The Rector, Dr Moses Umoobong thanked the committee for coming and also appreciated the state government for prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements.

‎Listing out the achievements of the institution to include accreditation of all programs and ranking of the polytechnic as the second best in the country, The Rector said the institution is however faced with the issue of security employment , the registrar still in acting capacity and lack of electricity.

‎The members of the committee who took time to engage the Rector on issues that needs clarification, expressed sadness at the level of vandalism of the auditorium.
