
Angry natives of Obunagha Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area council of Bayelsa State have apprehended a forty year old man for allegedly defiling his twelve year old step daughter.
The victim, according to reports, was in severe pains and rushed to the Niger Delta University Hospital,Okolobiri with bleeding from the Anus and other related ailments.
Already, the culprit, who was identified as a bricklayer in the community, was handed to the State Rapid Response unit, Dor Akpoor after severe public flogging by residents.
The father of the victim described the incident as sad, confirming that she has since been under intensive care at the hospital. He however said the family is considering pushing for the prosecution of the culprit after due consultations.

Pere Orufa, Former youth president, Gbarain Youths Federation and the Based organisation led by Dr. Dise Ogbise Harry have deployed field officers to monitor development over the incident.
Former Youth president, Gbarain Youths Federation, Pere Orufa, who also confirmed the incident, said though the culprit had done it to the victim once and to the knowledge of the mother who raised alarm which led to the angry Iocals apprehending the culprit.
The Founder of the Do Foundation, Dr. Dise Ogbise Harry, who also confirmed the development, said the incident and two other ones recorded between December, 2025 and January, 2026 has become worrisome and saddening to gender based organisations.
She noted that “As an organization we are once again awakened to our responsibilities as civil society organizations. We need to revisit our sensitization strategies and look out for preventive measures to end sexual abuse on our children.”
“Between January and now we have recorded three cases of sexual abuse of our children and the perpetrators are step fathers to this innocent young girls. Also between October and December last year we had two cases of adults ( neighbours) that girls between the ages of 7 and 12.”
“These incidents calls for urgent collaborative intervention by all key actors in the fight against Gender based violence.”
“For us in Do Foundation, the Association of Women Against Gender based violence, Operation Save our Children from abuse and intimate care essentials we are calling on the Bayelsa State police command to thoroughly investigate all the matters and let’s these Paedophiles be prosecuted.”
“Also as plans for collaboration has started amongst the various groups we shall ensure that no Paedophile walks freely on the streets of Bayelsa State again”
