UMURU – OFEH IN OMUMA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF RIVERS STATE ASSURED OF PEACEFULL BOUNDARY RESOLUTION

Rivers State Government has assured the people of the state that none of its land, resources and assets would be annexed by any other State.
The State Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu stated this when she led a team of members of the Rivers State Boundary Commission on a fact finding mission to Umuru-Ofeh, in Omuma Local Government Area of the State.
Represented by the Surveyor-General of the State, Mr. Noel Elenwo, Professor Odu said assurances have been given and clear picture has been painted to the people of Umuru-Ofeh that it is a work in progress, as the visit is as a result of the last meeting held in the Office of the Deputy Governor.
She urged the people of the area to maintain peace.
A statement signed by the Head of Press, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Owupele Benebo said the Deputy Governor who said the responsive Government of Governor Siminalaye Fubara listens to the yearnings of its people, the Governor Siminalayi led Administration in the State remains committed to the protection of lives and property of the people of the State which according to her, the people of Umuru-Ofeh in Omuma Local Government Area would continue to enjoy.
She commended the community for their peaceful disposition over years while assuring them of a peaceful and swift resolution to the issues.
In his remarks the Chairman of Omuma Local Government Area, Mr. Chisom Nwaiwu commended the Deputy Governor for her swift response in addressing the complaint brought by the community and urged the people of the community to go about their lawful activities without intimidation.
