The vibrant energy of the recent Benikrukru Christmas Carnival in Gbaramatu Kingdom is being channeled into a transformative legacy for the Niger Delta.

Following the massive success of the event which saw Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy take the stage organizers Soso Soberekon and the EMT Foundation have announced a major shift from “Carnival to Classroom.”

This new initiative will provide scholarships to 500 students from the region currently struggling to fund their tertiary education.

The decision to launch the grant stems from a desire to move beyond temporary entertainment and create lasting community impact. Inspired by the massive turnout and the aspirations of the local youth, top promoter Soso Soberekon partnered with Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Mathew Tonlagha, founder of the EMT Foundation, to ensure that the carnival’s success translates into academic security for indigent students.

By easing the crushing burden of tuition fees, the program aims to prevent financial hardship from derailing the dreams of the region’s future leaders.

In an era where rising educational costs pose a significant barrier to success, this intervention is being hailed by stakeholders as a masterclass in corporate social responsibility.

According to reports from GbaramatuVoiceTV, the scholarship rollout plan and application guidelines will be made public shortly.

This strategic investment in human capital demonstrates how cultural celebrations can serve as a powerful engine for sustainable development in the oil-rich Niger Delta, ensuring the applause for Burna Boy’s performance echoes through the halls of academia for years to come.
