PARTICIPANTS AT NDDC PSD CONEFERENCE CALL FOR CONCENTRATION ON ABANDONED PROJECTS IN BUDGET

Participants at a two-day Partners for Sustainable Development, PSD, conference organized by Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC,  in Uyo Akwa Ibom State,  have described the idea as a new dawn that would guarantee inclusiveness in the commission’s budget. 

Some of the participants including Mr. Nicolas Ofili from Delta State and Chief  Promise Oleka from Abia State  while commending the management for creating avenue for equal participation, however advised that the number of projects captured for each budgetary year be trimmed to what could be finished within a specific period.

The Partners for sustainable development, PSD, conference which was put up by Niger Delta Development Commission drew participants from the nine oil producing states to deliberate on twenty twenty four budget of the Interventionist agency. 

The conference featured general and group discussion sessions, where participants from different states had opportunity to assess the budgetary allocation for their various states and come up with suggestions where necessary. 

Speaking to Newsmen on the impact of the conference, the representative of Delta State, Mr. Nicolas Efili described the stakeholders’ involvement as a step in the right direction.

Mr. Ofili who encouraged management of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, to maintain the tempo advised them to limit the number of projects captured in yearly budget to what could be achieved within a short time. 

Similarly, the representative of Abia State Chief Promise Oleka observed that the budget proposal and imputes from the state were captured and called for proper implementation

While the representative of Bayelsa State Dr. Patterson Odon suggested that subsequent budgets focus on finishing ongoing projects, his Rivers State counterpart, DR. Goodhope Dimkpa reeled out various projects that need to be done in the state, including Eleme Onne Axis of East West Road. 

Explaining NDDC budget procedure, the Director Planning, Mr. Davis Okarevo maintained that management want all   stakeholders  involved in planning the Budget, to ensure that projects  are cited in many communities to enhance the development of the region. 

Mr. Okarevo assured participants that their observations and contributions have been noted.
