
Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, Abraka, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, says his administration has zero tolerance for corruption as it has set up a Revenue Monitoring Committee and a Direct Labour Facilities Committee to prevent financial leakages and reduce construction costs.
Professor Asagba made this known at Abraka while briefing newsmen on the achievements of his administration one year in office.
He revealed that other major reforms had been undertaken to foster academic and administrative efficiency, and enhance the university’s public profile within the last one year.

Asagba stated, ”We have undertaken significant reforms, including the appointment of two Deputy Vice-Chancellors and new department heads to promote inclusivity, youth engagement, and efficient decision-making. The university also established new centres to generate revenue, foster innovation, and enhance the university’s public profile, including the Centre for Farm Management and Agricultural Extension, the Centre for National Defence and Partnerships, and the Centre for Product Development and Research.”
Continuing, Professor Asagba said a lot had been achieved in the health sector, with the launch of annual medical screenings for staff and students, while the University community outreach programs extended healthcare services beyond campus.
The Delta State University, Abraka, Vice Chancellor highlighted the achievements recorded in ICT infrastructure to include the development of an advanced digital platform for exam processing, student records, and certificate issuance, online screening for new students, installation of fibre-optic internet services, and recruitment of skilled programmers to maintain and improve systems.
He explained that the digital innovations had minimized errors in conduct of examinations, improved operational efficiency, and made essential services more accessible for students and staff.
Asagba said, ”Some major milestones achieved include ICT upgrade initiatives to enhance ICT infrastructure, medical screening schedules development of a new integrated portal system, online payments for certificates and other registry services, upgrades of exam centers A and B at site Abraka with over 600 systems, enhancement of exam centers A and B with new equipment with a minimum working capacity of 300 systems in each center, upgrades of the CBT center at Oleh campus with 200 systems, enhancement of the Faculty of Law CBT center with 100 systems”
”Others include construction of new road linking basic medical sciences to faculty of arts, ongoing renovation, 500-seat theater,
faculty of agriculture complex: renovation of halls A, B, C, and D; renovation of weekend degree halls; renovation of the biochemistry laboratory; renovation of physics
