The agrarian community of Utagba-Uno in Ndokwa West local government area of Delta State was agog weekend as Ochonogor family, friends, elders and Indigenes of the community rolled out their drums to rejoice with their illustrious patriach, Chief Ifeanyichukwu Ochonogor as he clocked ninety years.It was a carnival like grand event with display of the rich Utagba-Uno culture, coupled with spectacular performances by various groups who thronged the ceremony to spice it up.

Prominent elders from neighbouring communities were also sighted at the event, rejoicing with the nonagenarian who they described as a community leader that has continued to impact positively on humanity.Even the Delta State Government was not left out as it had its presence felt at the event as the Dean of College of Commissioners, and Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije graced the well attended event.

Speaking to journalists at the event, the celebrant, Chief Ifeanyichukwu Ochonogor expressed gratitude to God , and those who came far and near to celebrate with him, and his family on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday.Chief Ochonogor known for his remarkable multi-sectorial achievements, especially in the housing, financial and engineering sectors, stressed the need for the upcoming generation to emulate the virtues of deligence, respect, sincerity, dexterity and industry.He called for the continued unity and peaceful coexistence of people in the community for the good of all.

One of the prominent women at the occasion, Chief Edwina Egwuanumkwu of Ndokwa Women Association said Chief Ochonogor is someone who believes in education, improving lives , and good movements, saying that he has done so well for his family and the community.

She said, “I thank God for the life of Ochonoghor because he has done well. I have known him when I was young. He is somebody who believes in movement, education and improving lives. The children are doing so well and he has placed them in strategic places where they will be able to live after him, and secure his investments.”

An elder in the community, Chief Moses Okom Ogbeji described Chief Ochonogor as a fantastic man who has much respect for everyone as well as helping the less privileged ones.He said Chief Ochonogor had helped in restoring light to the community.The youngest son of the celebrant, Dr Ifeanyi Ochonogor remarked that his father had accomplished a great deal in 90 years.

“He is an elite; he has maintained highest standard and did the right thing while maintaining the highest standard.””So, everyone else can follow in his footsteps and I can gloriously say he has guided me accordingly””He has done great things for the community and not just for himself”, stated Dr Ifeanyi.
