The member representing Oshimili North in Delta State House of Assembly, Frank Esenwah has expressed concern over gullies ravaging Igbuzor, Illah, Ogbeozoma New Layout and Amachai area of Okpanam.

Mr Esenwah who spoke to journalists in Asaba, said many residents in the affected areas had been displaced.

He lamented that he had to abandon his personal house that he built over twenty years ago at Illah due to the deep gully erosion ravaging the area.

The Delta State lawmaker said government was ware of the danger posed by such ecological trends, and was taking steps in collaboration with NEWMAP to tackle the gullies .

”The house I have in Illah, built more than twenty years ago, erosion is eating it up. There is a ravaging gully erosion in that area that can swallow a three-storey building, My house is the last on the slope in that area, and is just barely hundred metres from the horrifying gullies and I have abandoned the house”

”Deep gullies that have swallowed some buildings. My wife said I should get government to come and address the gullies”

“In several parts of Okpanam, there are gullies but one of them that is being done by NEWMAP. Amachai, Ogbeozoma New Layout, Vanguard area . There are even worse areas. If you go there, behind Talitta, you will be shocked to see the houses people are living, are at the verge of being carved in by gullies. It’s ecology.”

”Thankfully, we are now in the mainstream political party. We can see whether we can access more fund to address all these gullies.”

”But above all, we need the media to do more advocacy on the dire need to accord priority to tackling the gullies”, stated Esenwah.

The Delta legislator gave an assurance of continued impactful representation of the people of Oshimili North in the State House of Assembly.

He said he would be rolling out various empowerment packages for women, youths and men in Oshimili North State Constituency in June to mark his two years as their representative .

The lawmaker who stated that he had co-sponsored some bills aimed at impacting meaningfully on the socio-economic development of the state, disclosed that he was considering working on two bills that he would singlehandedly present on the floor of the house at a later date.

He noted with satisfaction the successes recorded in the State House of Assembly under the leadership of the Rt Hon Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor.

Mr Esewah gave kudos to the State Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori over his administration’s unprecedented performance within two years.

He urged his constituents to continue to support the policies and programmes of the administration of Governor Oborevwori which according to him, are thoughtfully planned for the wellbeing of the people, and the overall development of the state.
