The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Linus Obogo has advised members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, to amplify their voices more prominently in support of vulnerable people who are marginalized or misrepresented in society, while advocating for policies that promote gender equality.

Mr. Obogo gave the advice in his office when some members of NAWOJ, Cross River State Chapter paid him a courtesy visit in Calabar.

He pointed out that more attention should be drawn to the male gender, maintaining that women Journalists should strive to report other perspectives relating to men that would encourage and promote the understanding of their experiences and challenges.

The Chief Press Secretary pledged the unwavering support of the State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu as the “People’s First” Governor in collaborating with the Association to ensure that great strides are achieved in outreach efforts targeting the less privileged within the State.

Earlier, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Cross River State chapter, Comrade Rekpene Uket said the objective of the courtesy visit was to establish a rapport with the Chief Press Secretary, discuss areas of mutual interest, and explore potential opportunities for collaboration in outreach initiatives targeting vulnerable segments of society.

The NAWOJ Chairperson promised that the Association would remain steadfast in its commitment to serve and act as a voice for the voiceless within society, whilst collaborating with governmental and non-governmental organizations to ensure that no individual is left behind.

Comrade Uket commended the Chief Press Secretary for his achievements so far, adding that NAWOJ looks forward to building on the relationship established during the visit.

She expressed the belief that the collaboration would enhance mutual understanding and yield benefits for both parties.
