
Edo State House of Assembly has cleared four commissioner-nominees out of five forwarded to the house for screening and subsequent confirmation by the state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The four cleared commissioner-nominees are; Vincent Uwadiae, Etin-Osa Ogbeiwi, Saturday Idehen and Charity Amayaenvbo.
The confirmation of the nominees followed the presentation and subsequent adoption of the report of the House Standing Committee on Rules, Business and Government House chaired by the majority leader of the House, Mr Jonathan Ibhamawu.
The committee in a eighth point finding explained that the four nominees that appeared for screening were educationally qualified and experienced to function effectively as civil commissioners in the state and thereafter recommended for confirmation.
The committee also stated in its findings that one of the nominees, Prof Roland Otaru was absent for screening.
They were directed to appear before the parliament after clearance were thereafter asked to take a bow and leave.
The speaker, Mr Blessing Agbebaku thereafter directed that clean copy of the resolution be sent to the governor for necessary action.
In another development, a bill for a law to provide for the protection of government property, establish the Edo state property protection committee and for other matters connected therewith passed second reading at the assembly.
The lead sponsor of the bill and majority leader, Mr.Jonathan Ibhamawu while speaking in favour of the bill said when passed it would ensure that government property in Edo State were well protected.
Mr. Agbebaku later referred the bill to the committee on security to fine-tune and report back to the House within two weeks.
In the same vein, a bill for a law to amend the law to provide for the order of precedence and other connected purposes has alao passed second reading.
