The Edo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Dennis Idahosa, has assured the Red Cross Society of Edo State Government’s support and collaboration to boost their sustainability and support outreach.‎‎

Mr. Idahosa commended the charitable efforts of the humanitarian organisation based on their mission of giving hope to the hopeless and vulnerable in moments of crises and national disasters.‎‎

According to a statement by Friday Aghedo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Idahosa gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to his office by the leadership and members of the Edo state chapter of the Red Cross Society.‎‎He said that the humanitarian services rendered by the organisation had helped to maintain stability and prevent crisis during disasters.‎‎

The Deputy Governor urged members of the voluntary organisation to sustain the objectives of their founding father, Jean Henry Dunant, who channeled his effort towards disaster management. ‎‎He noted that the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement had remained indelible and integral humanitarian organisations on national and global stage based on rendering medical and psychosocial support to people in moments of crises to ease the burden of vulnerability.

‎‎While appealing to well to do citizens of the state and corporate bodies to assist the work of the organisation, Idahosa promised to deliver the body’s requests to Governor Monday Okpebholo.‎‎ Earlier, in his address, Chairman of the state chapter of the organisation, Mr. Monday Edogiawerie, congratulated the governor and his deputy on their electoral victory and subsequent affirmation by the election petition tribunal.‎‎

He noted that people held the two political figures in government in high esteem based on their contributions to the society and present developmental strides, which he said was impacting on every sphere of the society.‎‎

Edogiawerie, however, informed the Idahosa of its proposed activities to mark the 2025 World Red Cross Week in Edo State, which he said has been programmed to highlight their existence for the past 162 years.‎‎The chairman gave the theme for this year’s Red Cross Society week as “ON THE SIDE OF HUMANITY.” ‎‎He concluded by appealing for government’s funding and support for the organization to be able to carry out its objectives unhindered.
