The Edo state Livestock productivity and Resilience Support projects, L-Pres, a world Bank assisted Project under the state ministry of livestock development, has taken delivery of 120,500 doses of vaccines from its national coordinating office, Abuja.
The doses of vaccines are 20,000 CPPP, 100,000 new casle vaccine and 500 doses of Footh and mouth vaccines.
The vaccines were jointly delivered by the animal husbandry assistant, L-Pres National coordinating office, Abuja, Mr Lukman Muhammad Alhassan and the Legal adviser of the project, Mr. Ken Agim.

Delivering the vaccines, Mr. Alhasan explained that the distribution was a nationwide exercise by L-Pres in line with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development’s efforts to prevent transboundary diseases and boost public health through consumption of healthy animals.
Mr. Alhasan said similar distribution of the vaccines have taken place in other south south states including Bayelsa and Delta from where the team arrived Edo state.
Taking delivering of the vaccine, the commissioner, Ministry of livestock development, Edo state, Dr. Ignatius Omorodion commended L-Pres for the gesture, stressing that the vaccines would help to raise the bar in livestock production.
In a remark, the Edo state coordinator, Livestock productively Resilience support project, Mrs. Betsy Ikpikhumi gave the assurance that the Vaccines would be judiciously used to ensure healthy livestock, prevent trans boundary diseases as well as improve public health.
Mrs. Ikpikhumi called on farmers in the state to make their livestock readily available as the L-PRESS would be visiting them to vaccinate their animals against new casle, and footh and mouth diseases.
Meanwhile, the Director, Veterinary services, Ministry of Livestock Development, Edo state, doctor Thomas Haruna expressed optimism that the vaccines would complement efforts by state government to prevent livestock diseases, boost production and ensure food security across the state.
