The Chairman, Cross River State Internal Revenue Service, Prince Godwin Okon has advised the people of the State to remain committed to paying tax.

Prince Okon who gave the advice in Calabar, said tax payment is crucial because it is the primary way the State government fund essential public services, infrastructure, and social programmes that benefit everyone in the State.

According to him, it is a civic responsibility that promotes economic stability, social equity, and public trust in government institutions.

The Executive Chairman explained that taxes provide the necessary revenue for government at all levels to operate and fund vital services and projects.

He noted that taxes pay for the construction and maintenance of public infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, public transit and airport.

Prince Okon called on the people of the State to ensure they take the tax payment seriously and urged them to have their Tax Identification Numbers, as that may be a major criterion for their financial transactions next year.

The Chairman warned taxpayers against making payments to individuals and directed them to use designated government accounts for all tax remittances.
