
Nigerians have been enjoined to become true ambassadors of correct information by sharing realities of government programmes and achievements to counter misinformation, and in turn, strengthen trust, unity and national orientation.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris stated this at the sensitization campaign programme in Benin, the Edo State Capital with the theme: Tinubu administration’s mid-term Report.
Represented by the head of Centre, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Edo State, Mr Daniel Ejodamen, the minister said that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was anchored on transparency, accountability, inclusiveness and sustainable development.
He further explained that the responsibility of making Nigeria great was collective, and identified information as the fuel driving participation and trust in nation building.
He said: ” this sensitization campaign is part of our continuous effort to bridge the information gap between the government and the governed”.
” It is aimed at ensuring that every Nigerian, regardless of background or location, is fully aware of the strides being made across critical sectors – be it economy, infrastructure, security, education, or social welfare”.
“As we listen to the Mid-Term Report, I urge you all to pay attention with open minds. Let us engage constructively, ask questions where necessary, and carry the message of renewed hope to our communities”.
“The responsibility of nation building is collective, and information is the fuel that drives participation and trust.” He added.
Guest lecturer at the occasion, Doctor Kennedy Edegbe who spoke on various intervention programmes of the federal government programmes, advised Nigerians to take advantage of the programmes to add value to their lives.
He listed some of the programmes to include students loans, loans for workers, ICT infrastructure, road infrastructure, among others, and called on Nigerians to participate in the programmes to benefit from them.
According to him: ” There’s a lot of milestones that have been achieved. When we talk about milestones, we are talking about what has been achieved so far. And in the area of agriculture, through LIFE-ND programmes 500 billion naira has been disbursed to 1,797 farmers”.
Similarly, the chairman of the occasion, Mr James Orumwese commended federal government for the giant strides in agriculture, education sector and ongoing work on Benin/Auchi road.
He appreciated the efforts of the minister of works for fixing Benin/Auchi road with concrete in collaboration with BUA cement factory.
He further called on the federal government to expedite action on Benin/Sapele road by repeating what was being done on Benin Auchi road there to ease the plight of road users.
Participants at the event including Zonal Director, NTA Benin Network Centre, Mrs Teni Ajayi represented by Mrs Francesca Nwaogbe, heads of government agencies in the state, corps members, among others expressed satisfaction with ongoing federal government programmes and sued for their sustenance.
