As part of efforts by the Federal Government to foster a thriving private sector driven economy and improve the business environment a stakeholders’ engagement has taken place in Bayelsa State.

The event which took place in Yenagoa is at the instance of the Presidential Enabling Business Environmental Council through its Sub-national Intervention Visit featured State Technical Session and Statewide Town Hall Meeting.

Setting the tone for the engagement, Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environmental Council, Office of the Vice President, Princess Zarah Mustapha-Audu said the nationwide tour was part of efforts to provide technical support to Ministries, Departments and Agencies that interact with businesses to help enhance service delivery and efficiency in line with the eight point agenda of President Bola Tinubu to improve investments, the economy and job creation to positively impact the country’s Gross Domestic Product.

Represented by the Nationwide Tour Coordinator and Reform Leader Sub-National Reforms, Ms. Kris Ekanem she said this is coming ahead of the 2025 Sub-national ease of doing business report which would highlight only the top ten performing business friendly States with parameters such as service delivery, infrastructure, access to credit, regulatory framework reforms and security being considered.

Bayelsa State Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Dr. Ebieri Jones reiterated the commitment of the Governor Douye Diri led Administration to implementing policies, programmes and reforms to improve the business environment.

Director General of the Bayelsa Investment Promotion Agency, Ms. Patience Ranami Abah said with plans underway for an independent power supply, construction of the three Senatorial Road and priority to security, the State was on course to score high on the Ease of Doing Business Ranking.

The event featured a technical workshop on the State Action on Business Enabling Reform (SABER) program and private sector stakeholders’ engagement session.
