
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has commended the more than 400 graduands of Cohort 0002 of the Dakkada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) for their resilience, commitment, and excellence, culminatong in the successful completion of their training.
The Governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, in a congratulatory message during the graduation ceremony held at the DASAC Centre, Ikot Adaidem, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, lauded the graduands for mastering the various skill sets offered across departments and urged them to step into society as worthy ambassadors of the Centre.
“You have been equipped with the necessary skillsets. It is now time for you to go out there and utilize the skills you have acquired here for your personal growth and development,” he said.
Governor Eno also commended the Rector of DASAC, Professor Enoidem Usoro, and the management team for their tremendous efforts in translating the dreams and visions of the Centre’s founding fathers into reality, as well as the invaluable contributions of all partners, particularly the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Adebisi, whose wise counsel, he noted, has helped to elevate the Centre.
Earlier a remarks, the Rector of DASAC, Prof. Enoidem Usoro, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Eno for his exceptional support and unwavering commitment to sustainable education and human capital development.
“Sir, your commitment to advancing education, skills development, and youth empowerment within our State has been exemplary and profound,” she stated.
Prof Usoro noted that in line with the ARISE Agenda, the administration’s sponsorship of trainees has broadened access to quality skill acquisition while strengthening the human capital base of communities across the State.
The Rector also lauded the graduating students for their dedication, perseverance, and sacrifices throughout their training.
“I sincerely commend the efforts of all the Students of this great Centre.There were moments they had to work longer hours to achieve the successes they have recorded today,” she added.
In their goodwill messages, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, represented by Prof. Adebisi, and the Registrar, College of Education, Afaha Nsit, Mrs. Emediong Marculay William, commended Governor Eno’s visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to education and human capital development.
They praised DASAC for addressing critical human needs through the production of locally made products and noted that the acquired skills will enable graduates to become employers of labour.
428 graduates drawn from nine schools, including Agribusiness, Hospitality and Lifestyle, Automobile Technology, Electrical/Electronic Technology, ICT, Metal Technology, Civil Building and Wood Technology, and Industrial Safety.
The overall best graduating student, Mr. Idongesit Boniface Unyanga of the Department of Piggery, Faculty of Agriculture, expressed gratitude to the Governor for the life-changing opportunity, and pledged to uphold the Centre’s values while contributing to the development of the State through his chosen field.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of a plaque to the Governor by the Cohort 0002 graduands in recognition of his outstanding support and commitment to youth development.
