Gunmen suspected to be Iceland cult members on Saturday evening,July 19,2025 shot dead Vice Chairman, Obelle Council of Chiefs in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Ferdinand Dabiri.
We gathered that the suspected Iceland cult members led by one ‘Cairo’ approached the venue where Chief Dabiri and other Chiefs were holding meeting when ‘Cairo’ came down from a motorbike with a gun,walked straight to Chief Dabiri,shot him twice and left after confirming that the chief was dead.
The incident resulted in pandemonium as other chiefs scampered for safety.
Some natives have also fled the community as at last night.
Second Son of the deceased, Joseph Dabiri confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
According to the deceased son, an eyewitness told him that the cultist came with a gun, while his father was in a meeting at Omuwoka village in Obelle,shot at him twice and fled.
Mr. Dabiri disclosed that the incident has been reported to Rumuji Police Division while calling for justice on the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command was yet to made an official statement.
