
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has eulogized the late Deputy Governor of Bayelsa Sate, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing his death as sad and a loss for the State.
He made the remark when he paid a condolence visit to Governor Douye Diri and the Ewhrudjakpo family in Government House, Yenagoa.

Alambo Datonye reports that Governor Diri used the visit to direct that an autopsy be undertaken to determine the death of the Deputy Governor.
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan said news of the death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo was received with shock, describing his sudden passing as a tragic loss to the State.
The Former President, a one time Deputy Governor of Bayelsa himself described Senator Ewhrudjakpo as a humble public servant who demonstrated a high level of commitment to his duties and the development of Bayelsa.

In a response, Governor Diri thanked President Jonathan for being the first to officially pay the government and family of the late Senator Ewhrudjakpo a condolence visit.
Governor Diri who described the Deputy Governor as a friend and brother, stated that together they had served the State for about fourteen years, cautioning those politicizing his death to refrain as he had directed that an autopsy be conducted to ascertain the cause of his death.
Dr. Jonathan and Governor Diri later visited the wife of the Deputy Governor, Beatrice at their residence in Government House.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo died last Thursday after slumping in his office while preparing to attend an engagement and was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa where he was pronounced dead by Doctors.
