
A Day of Tributes has been held in honour of the late Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo with eminent personalities describing his death as a huge loss to the State and the nation.
The event was held at the Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall at Government House in Yenagoa.

Leading the litany of tributes, former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan who attended the event in company of his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan described the late Bayelsa Deputy Governor as an exceptional politician who distinguished himself by providing selfless service to society.
Governor Douye Diri who was visibly emotional said his Deputy was a dependable ally who demonstrated a high level of loyalty during his time as a public office holder.
For former Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Seriake Dickson who said he was his associate for over thirty years and appointed him as Commissioner for Works before nominating him as a Senator and later, Deputy Governor , stated that Senator Ewhrudjakpo’s demise had created a void which would be difficult to fill.
There were also tributes from the Bayelsa caucus in the National Assembly, the leadership of the State Legislature and Judiciary as well as those of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, the Ijaw National Congress, the Ijaw Youth Council, the Bayelsa Traditional Rulers Council, the State Elders Council, the Nigeria Bar Association, the Clergy and the Ewhrudjakpo family.
