
Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC has pledged commitment to the safety of staff and clients of the commission.
Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who made the pledge during Health, Safety and Environment, HSE week in Port Harcourt Rivers State, insisted that the Commission prioritizes safety of staff as they go about the development of the region.
Represented by Director, Agric and Fisheries, Dr. Mrs. Winifred Madume, the MD explained that a HSE manual which he unveiled was to serve as a guide to safety compliance in the commission.

Similarly, Director Administration and Human resources, Patrick EKADE, represented by the Director Human Resources, Mrs. SOTONYE Ordu, stated that the HSE week was put up to lay emphasis on the need for staff to be in good state of health to increase work efficiency.
A work and safety expert, Mr. Phillip Nleru Who gave a lecture on HSE at workplace, Identified poor posture, Fire safety and emergency preparedness, mental health cum stress management, as part of challenges of workplace.

Mr. Nleru Admonished organisations to pay close attention to the safety of their staff.
Correspondent Gabriel OKECHUKWU nreports that high point of the event was emergency fire fighting simulation and application of Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, on accident victims.
According to Nleru, records indicated ninety five percent reduction on fire incidents since the introduction of fire Wardens at the commission.

An occupational safety expert, Dr. Herbert Okachukwu told the people that workplace related death rate was high globally and advised workers to identify triggers to ailments and avoid them.
He asked organizations to take into considerations the complaints from staff on issues affecting their health and productivity.
The Occupational safety expert spoke against usage of harmful substances and drug abuse adding that poor well-being would lead to poor productivity.
High point of the event was emergency fire fighting simulation and application of Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, CPR, on accident victims as demonstrated by Safety Blessing Smart.
As side attraction to the event, some soft games such as Scrabble, chess, ludo, monopoly, volley ball and table tennis held.
