
Staff of Corporate Affairs Directorate of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC have been enjoined to put up right attitude to work as they strive to project the image of the commission.
Managing Director NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who gave the advice in Port Harcourt Rivers State during a Three Day Workshop cum Retreat on Capacity Building for staff of Corporate Affairs Directorate asked them to take advantage of the retreat to improve their communication skills.
The capacity building retreat with the theme; “Corporate Communication Strategy; Everyone’s business” which was organized by Corporate Affairs Directorate NDDC led by Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama brought together all staff of the directorate from all nine mandate states and Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku who was emphatic about passion in carrying out assignments, told participants to exhibit good manners while interacting with the publics because, they project the image of the commission.
Dr. Ogbuku who stressed the need to wear a cheerful countenance while engaging stakeholders, expressed willingness to train the staff of the directorate, to be the best.
The MD maintained that training and learning serve as spring boards to greater heights.

On the essence of the retreat, the Director Corporate Affairs Directorate NDDC, Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama explained that it was organized to expose staff of the directorate to various aspects of communication and events management.
Mrs.Thompson-Wakama charged participants to leverage on the opportunity to acquire unique communication skills that would make them exceptional on the job.
While giving a lecture on Ways to Improve public speaking skills, lead facilitator and veteran broadcast Journalist, Mrs. Eugenia Abu laid emphasis on engaging the audience right from the beginning.
While taking the class on breathing exercise, Mrs. Abu was assertive that good breathing calms tensions and enhances good enunciation.
She enjoyed participants to watch out for mannerisms in their speech and consciously deal with them through regular practice.

Speaking on the role of a good moderator, another renowned media personality, Mr. Cyril Stober insisted on the importance of reading wide to have knowledge, data and statistics concerning the subject of discussion.
Mr. Stober insisted on the need to engage the audience while moderating, by talking confidently, especially the introduction.
He stated that a moderator should be a good listener to ensure that respondents remain on the subject of discussion despite diverse opinions.
High point of the retreat was presentation of Corporate Affairs branded souvenir to the MD by Director Corporate Affairs Directorate.
