Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has enjoined staff of the commission to promote transparency and integrity in the workplace.

Dr. Ogbuku who gave the advice during a Sensitization Programme for NDDC personnel on “Workplace Compliance with Transparency and Due Process” told participants that following due process would reduce conflicts.

Represented by Chief of staff, Reverend Julius Oworibo the MD noted that working in fairness and team work would enhance Peace and build trust.

 “You meditate, you negotiate, sometimes you arbitrate to resolve conflicts without going through long or hostile processes or carrying grudges about because trying to undue one another breeds resentment in the workplace.

A mediator can hear from both sides, talk through their issues and guide them to be fair on how the problems can be resolved.”

Similarly, Acting Director, Dispute and Conflict Resolution DCR Directorate, Mr. Godwin Ogedegbe

who  emphasized transparency and accountability in the discharge of  duties, told staff to dialogue with stakeholders to make for an enabling environment for project delivery.

“Every staff member, irrespective of cadre or status, deserves fair procedures. Our ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) mechanisms mediation, negotiation, facilitation, and other agreed-upon tools must be accessible, impartial, timely, and confidential where appropriate. 

Through due process, we protect rights, uphold dignity, and foster trust in our institution.”

Speaking on promoting Standards and Institutional Integrity, Deploying Alternative Dispute Resolution ADR, for inclusive Decision Making Process, Chief Executive Officer, Dispute Resolution Academy, Dr. Gbenga Gbarada  maintained that leaders should use power to serve people and not themselves.

According to Dr. Gbarada, ADR should be encouraged because it is efficient, faster  and promotes justice.

He stated that the  rule of law must be fair and for the interest of all, adding that crisis would erupt if leaders twerk the rule of law.

Dr. Gbarada called on leaders to ensure that decisions  were made honestly, fairly and responsibly, following the ethics and policies of an organization.

Founder, Center for Constitutionalism and Demilitarisation and  Lecturer, Department of Political Science, Lagos State University, Professor Sylvester Odion-Akhaine taxed leather to set the pace on ethical values.

 The theme of the sensitization was Promoting Transparency And Due Process in the Workplace, Deploying Alternative Dispute Resolution Approach.
