
The Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku says the commission is determined to ensure a healthy Niger Delta region.
Dr. Ogbuku who made this known during Sickle cell awareness in Rivers State University Teaching Hospital Port Harcourt, told the people that the commission has made provisions to foot the bill of all registered Sickle Cell worrior participants.

Represented by Director Education, Health and Social Services, EHSS, DR. Patience Ezugwu, Dr. Ogbuku revealed that the commission has embarked on several free medical outreaches, built Hospitals and donated medical equipment to health centers across the region.
The Consultant, Mrs. Esther Onolememen while appreciating NDDC for supporting the campaign, decried the difficulty involved in handling a sickle cell issue.
She encouraged the warriors as they were called, to strive to be successful in various fields despite the challenge.

Mrs. Onolememen told parents not to give up but keep building hope in the children.
On his part, father of one of the affected children, Mr. Bennett Miebefaka who applauded NDDC for the initiative, acknowledged the difficulties involved in managing the Sickle cell Challenge.

The respondents admonished intending couples to be sure of their status before commitment.
